WESLACO – A recent visit to Valley Grande Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center conjured images of the “swingin” 50s, sock hops, and hoop skirts as residents, their families, and staff rocked to music of the era and viewed classic cars usually seen in “American Graffiti.”
The only person missing was “The Fonz.”
This event was one of many hosted by the nursing and rehabilitation center as a way to entertain and this one brought smiles and some foot-stomping to those in attendance. It’s all part of a series of events that have included trips to the movies, live animals, music, and other activities that are part of the therapy programs here.
“These types of activities are so important to our nursing home and rehab patients,” said Bill Lowe, administrator. “It gives them the opportunity to be outside and visit with friends and families. This event was even more fun and entertaining since the music and the classic cars brought back fine memories for many of our residents.
“I want to thank all of those who attended along with our energetic activities staff which continually brings these types of events here.”
