VALLEY GRANDE MANOR RESIDENTS BEAT THE HEAT

WESLACO – There’s more than one way to beat the heat at Valley Grande Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Recently, the residents and staff headed outside to cool off with a variety of “water games” that included balloon tossing and pouring buckets of water on each other.

“It was certainly a fun day,” said Joe Longoria, Director of Rehab for Valley Grande Manor. “But the activities really have therapeutic and social benefits.
In one activity, residents tossed water balloons into baskets and also caught them.

“These exercises enhance and promote coordination while creating a fun and social event,” said Longoria. “This is one of many ways we break up the monotony of rehab programs for our residents. It was a fun day with many physical benefits. As the summer progresses, we will have more of these activities that are enjoyed by our residents, family, and staff.”
