Local dignitaries and professionals from the area healthcare sector participated in the ribbon cutting for the new medical residency clinic in Mercedes.
Joe Longoria, Director of Rehab, and Mary Pina, Marketing Director, at Valley Grande Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, were among the health care professionals invited to the event.
The new clinic represents a partnership between the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Knapp Medical Center. The residency program, the first of its kind in the Mid-Valley, will be located in the 13,800-square-foot building on the western edge of Mercedes, on the northwest corner of Expressway 83 and North Mile 2 West Road (at 2810 W. Expressway 83). The City of Mercedes donated the land to Knapp for the clinic.
It is scheduled to open this month.
